Mary Lambert "I'd Be Your Wife" Video

Grammy-nominated Artist Mary Lambert to release music video honoring the third anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision on Marriage Equality.

Seattle production company, Hullabaloo, collaborates with Lambert to create her first 360˚ music video featuring weddings crowdsourced from hundreds of LGBTQ couples.

Seattle, WA – It’s been three years since the U.S. Supreme Court granted same-sex couples the right to marry. Mary Lambert is celebrating this anniversary as well as Pride Month with a 360˚ music video release of “I’d Be Your Wife.” The music video will be released June 26 on Mary’s YouTube Channel.

“This video was a joy to make and every time I watch it, I find something new to happy-cry about,” says Lambert. “I think we’ve really captured the tenderness and beauty of queer love in the backdrop of ceremony.”

Lambert became a cultural icon when she wrote and sang the hook for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ song “Same Love,” that became an anthem for national marriage equality.

“I’d Be Your Wife,” from Lambert’s album Bold, was released in 2017.  It was filmed with 360˚ video cameras in studio and at a live concert by Seattle video agency, Hullabaloo. The video showcases wedding footage crowdsourced from hundreds of LGBTQ couples and is a celebration of love, family, and LGBTQ pride.

“While the struggle for human rights continues, we think it’s an important time to reflect on the powerful gains made for equal rights,” said Tracy Dethlefs. Tracy is Hullabaloo’s Creative Director who previously worked for MTV where he was an editor and director on MTV’s Making the Video.

Company owners Francine Strickwerda and Tracy Dethlefs are partners in work and in life, and they approached Lambert with the idea of creating a music video pro bono for “I’d Be Your Wife.” The couple was inspired by their 7-year-old son’s requests to play Lambert’s album, Bold.

“We so appreciate Mary’s message of love and acceptance,” said Strickwerda, Hullabaloo’s Executive Producer. “We want a kinder world for our child, and for all children.”

About Mary Lambert – In 2012, Mary Lambert was working three restaurant jobs when she received a phone call from a friend who was working with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on their debut album, The Heist. Macklemore and Lewis were struggling to write a chorus for one of the songs on the album and asked Mary if she would be able to help. Lambert had three hours to write the hook, and the result was the transcendent chorus to the triple-platinum single “Same Love.” Writing and singing the hook led to two Grammy nominations for Song of The Year and Album of The Year, as well as an iconic performance alongside Madonna at the 2014 Grammys. In 2014, she also released her debut album Heart On My Sleeve produced by Sara Bareilles, Tori Amos, and Kanye West. Her smash single, “Secrets,” launched to No. 1 on the Billboard Dance charts and was certified RIAA Gold in 2015. Mary Lambert’s latest EP, Bold, was released in 2017.
